What Makes Gaming Desktop Computers Different from the Rest

A gaming desktop computer is a much more powerful version of your regular desktop variety. They are built to process giant amounts of information in terms of sound and feel processing while playing all types of video games such as role-playing games, first person shooters, and 3-D realms online network games. Most these games have a large amount of visual detail, and usually there is a lot of action happening. Any kind of delay or lag by the gaming desktop computer in processing gaming information can really put a hamper on your gaming fun.

So what exactly are the most important components of your gaming computer? Let’s start with the microprocessor for the CPU. Most of the best gaming desktop computers have at least a dual core microprocessor CPU, but the latest computers have two dual core CPUs, in essence making it a quad core processor. Both Intel and AMD make very powerful microprocessors. A lot of power and speed is needed to process the speed and graphics of today’s multiplayer games, especially the online games.

The next component involved in the speed and processing department is your random access memory or RAM for short. Having ample RAM makes sound and video processing much easier on the computer. Today’s PC games require much more RAM than ever before. Usually, about 4 GB is considered to be plenty of RAM. But not when it comes to gaming. If you can manage 8 to 16 GB of RAM, you’ll be in good shape.

Next on our list of important components for your gaming desktop computer is the one device that is responsible for how good your game looks; the video card. These days there are video cards that are designed specifically for gaming. Easier cards also have built-in memory to help with process.

Next on the list and probably last is the handy-dandy soundcard. This device is responsible for your game sounds and the quality of sound coming from speakers in your computer.

All these components are connected together on what to call the motherboard. At present motherboards are designed for gaming computers and their components.

There are a few more items we didn’t mention. Obviously you need a hard drive to store your data in your applications. You also need a power source. Some gaming computers have water cooling power sources to keep your system cool while playing games for long hours. Regular desktop computers don’t really need water cooling systems like gaming computers do.

It seems like these gaming computers are supercomputers. Compared to regular desktop computers, they most certainly are. That means that they’re not cheap. But there are ways to get around the price. These ways require a bit more effort on your part, and a little more ingenuity. Basically you can save money by building your own gaming PC.
